I was exhausted. I don't know if you can relate, but it seemed I was spending all of my time running from one thing to the next, trying to juggle family, business, household and anything else that fell onto my plate. And one day, I just said, ‘Something's gotta give!', before I give out! I realized that I had gotten off track. I was Coaching, giving to others, but I hadn't had a Coach myself in a while. I saw that even though I loved learning and every class sounded better than the last, that at least for right now, I don't need to learn anything else. There are some internal blocks that I need to address.
Into my life walks a great book, Patriarchy Stress Disorder by Dr. Valerie Rein. Turns out, it's not my fault. And it's not yours either. We are all, in one way or another, carrying trauma, from our own experiences, others around us and even from our ancestors. From learning some techniques to release trauma, I realized a great big 'biggie'. "I can't do it alone." I can't heal from the trauma, I can't run my business or my life, without feedback from other smart, like minded people.
Since becoming part of several communities on healing and abundance, getting a new Business Coach and being part of a Mastermind business and wealth group, my life is calmer, more organized and more productive. Less time spent worrying and stressing, and more time expressing my gifts and making the world a better place for me, my clients and even my friends and family.
So I got to thinking, don't the people that I serve, Beauty Professionals, deserve the benefit of a Mastermind Group? My answer was, ‘Absolutely’! As a Salon Business Coach, I've mostly offered classes or Private Coaching. While both have produced great results for my students and clients, I'm now seeing the benefit of shared experiences and wisdom, in addition to training. The power of a group of like minded, supportive people who are committed to their own success.
So what exactly is a Mastermind and what can you expect to get from it? Well, the term comes from the classic book, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. In the book, it's described as two or more people coming together in harmony to solve problems; often coming up with solutions that neither would have come up with on their own. It's where 2+2= more than 4!
In addition, it's a group that offers Training, Brainstorming, Accountability and Peer-to-peer support. Pretty awesome, right? Obviously, you can set up your own Mastermind with you and some of your friends. But, I will say, when I've tried before, sometimes we showed up and sometimes we didn't. Sometimes we were prepared and sometimes we weren't. And sometimes, we really just had a good old girlfriend catch-up! Which was fun - but didn't really help our businesses!
